From The Hill to Brazil: St. Louis CITY SC Drops Heritage-Laced Capsule Honouring The 1950 “Miracle on Grass”

Commemorating the 75th anniversary of arguably the greatest upset in FIFA World Cup history, St. Louis CITY SC have revealed an exclusive tribute collection created in collaboration with SoccerBible.

If soccer in the U.S. has a soul, it’s got a red brick foundation laid firmly in St. Louis. And this week, that legacy gets its due. In tribute to the 75th anniversary of the 1950 World Cup’s most seismic moment—the United States’ 1-0 win over England, dubbed the “Miracle on Grass”—St. Louis CITY SC has unveiled an exclusive merch capsule that blends soccer heritage with street-ready style, channeling the defiant spirit of five hometown heroes who helped rewrite the game’s global narrative.

Dropped in collaboration with SoccerBible, the collection lands as the centerpiece of a wider slate of anniversary activations on June 25, when CITY SC hosts their midweek clash at Energizer Park. But make no mistake—this is more than just matchday merch. It’s a fashion-forward nod to the past that lives comfortably in the now.

The tribute line is available for pre-order starting Tuesday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. via stlcitygo.com, and it reads like a love letter to both legacy and local pride. There’s weight in every detail: vintage-inspired CITY SC details meets tonal hits of red, white, and navy, evoking both national identity and club DNA. The aesthetic is clean, collegiate, and punchy, pulling from retro football silhouettes with a cut that lands squarely in the modern supporter’s wardrobe.

The capsule is championed by a button down shirt and an over-sized sleeveless tee, each etched with references to “The Hill”—the St. Louis neighborhood that produced four of the five players on the 1950 squad—and subtle typography that marks June 29, 1950, the day the U.S. team of part-timers toppled England’s giants in Brazil. Rounding out the collection is a pair of shorts, cap, towel and a limited edition necklace.

And yes, the energy is unmistakably American. But it’s filtered through that distinct CITY SC edge: streetwear-savvy, culturally fluent, and defiantly local. This is gear that feels just as at home in Lou Fusz Plaza as it would on the terraces of the Maracanã.

“This collection isn’t just about looking good—it’s about telling the story of where U.S. soccer really began,” said CITY SC Chief Experience Officer Matt Sebek. “St. Louis is more than just a soccer city… it’s where legends are born. This drop honors that history and looks ahead to the next 75 years.”

While the drop takes center stage, the club is going all in on the celebration. A pre-match “From The Hill to Brazil” CITY Block Party will light up Lou Fusz Plaza, complete with Brazilian BBQ courtesy of Expat BBQ, samba vibes, and storytelling that stitches together eras. The game itself will feature 75th anniversary-themed nets and flags, a National Anthem performance by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and a CITY SC sash-design pennant giveaway that ties the tribute together.

There’s also a mural going up on the side of Anthonino’s Taverna on The Hill, painted by local artist Scott Pondrom—another permanent, street-level nod to the moment five St. Louis men stepped onto a World Cup pitch and changed American soccer forever.

Frank “Pee Wee” Wallace, Gino Pariani, Charles Colombo, Frank Borghi, and Harry Keough. Names that might not appear in the modern-day headlines, but their fingerprints are all over the game today. St. Louis CITY SC is making sure of that—with stitches, style, and a spotlight 75 years in the making.
